Hot Summers and my itch with the Air Conditioners !

Today we are living in an era of luxuries. We don’t want to experience any kind of discomfort, not even an iota of inconvenience.

I am talking about summers here. We have just entered the extremely hot 9 days termed as Nau tapa in Hindi.

I am living in the central part of India. This place is characterised by extremes of hold and cold. The summers see the temperature shooting up to 47 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, the winters are so dry and the temperature goes down to 7-8 degrees Celsius.

And so, the lifestyle choices that we make are so biased towards luxury over good health.  In the midst of cool gadgets available, we fail to see any rational in staying in some level of physical discomfort.

Summers mean hot weather and the rapid loss of water and essential salts from our body. Our body tend to lose much water by way of sweating. Sweating is a natural response of our body to regulate the body temperature by triggering the opening up of pores and release of water from body.

But, thanks to the modern air conditioners, sweating has become a rare phenomenon, even in hot summer. Whether we are in office or in car or even the 4 walls of our homes, we have the luxury of the ACs that allow us to stay away from the natural sweating.

I have so far resisted the temptations to install the luxury gadget at my home. For the sake of health and fitness. I know that I have to make this choice even though I can afford.

I have so far allowed myself access to desert coolers and ceiling fans as they don’t actually create an artificial cool climate. There is sufficient flow of fresh air and also avoid the over heating of the surrounding environment.

As our body is constantly losing water and the essential salts, it gives us the opportunity to load ourselves and replenish the body with water and natural juices.

Drinking water due to often experiencing heat will hydrate our internal organs. As we know that more than 75 percent of pur body is water, we should thank these summers to be highly to allow us to be highly pro active in hydrating ourselves.

What happens when we expose our selves to modern air conditioning systems?

We allow ourselves to become vulnerable and sensitive to the external environment. Even though we experience cool climate around, we set ourselves to dehydration.

When you are under the influence of ACs, you won’t be forced to pick up a glass of water as often. You won’t bother to replenish the salt supplies and essential minerals without feeling thirsty.

I am not against the air conditioning systems totally. When I go to work, I feel the need of ACs as the constant dripping of sweat could be distracting to work and focus.

However, in my quest to live a healthy and disease free life, I liberate myself from the pangs of modern tools of luxury!

Intently allowing our body to suffer, also spreads to the mental suffering. And suffering is a beautiful act to sharpen ourselves into strong individual with equally strong mindsets.

Without Air conditioners, you will eat more fruits and drink more water. Also incorporate citric fruits and a lot of curd in your diet. And stay away from soft sugary aerated drinks sold in the market to quench your thirst. Prefer sweet lime or lemon water!

It will be ultimately your lifestyle choices that sum up your health status. I dont want to tell you to suffer badly. But maintain a healthy balance between suffering and luxury.

A healthy body is capable of resisting many a footfalls in life. A great healthy body is a blessing and a big source of peace of mind and happiness. 😊
